POSTED IN: The House

I can’t believe it’s been only six months since I moved out of my parents house and into a little house of my own.  Everyday that I’ve spent on my own has been…well, a wild ride to say the least…but an absolutely extraordinary adventure that I’m so happy I’ve started on.

Here’s a little sneak peek into my first little house, where I am so happy to call my own home. Come on over whenever y’all!

Bedroom:

My bedroom furniture was given to me by family friends who were moving and wanted to get rid of a few older pieces.  I gladly took it off their hands, sanded it down, repainted it, and distressed it! I love the way it turned out! {Took a long time, but it was worth it! }

Ahhh….my bed.  Absolutely my favorite thing in my entire home.  It’s the kind of bed that I’ve always envisioned for myself.  All white linens, tons of textures, and lots of natural light to wake up to. It’s my happy place.

I absolutely love finding new purposes for things. Like these candy dishes make perfectly good jewelry holders if I do say so myself!

Mantle in my bedroom.  The “N-E-S-T” letters are twine wrapped. I bought the letters at Hobby Lobby and it took a whole movie to wrap all four of them! I knew I wanted “N-E-S-T” somewhere in my house because it’s the start of my little “nest”! 🙂

Kitchen:

The kitchen is nothing to write home about…and plus…it’s the room I’m in the least {I hardly cook y’all…really, it’s sad.} I’ll do something cute in it one day…but for now, it’s simple.

A kitchen counter isn’t complete without a Margaritaville Maker of course! {Like the scale?! I have been searching for a vintage scale for ages! I finally found one at an antique/junk shop in downtown Monroe…love it!}

So I have this awkward brick wall/chimney in my kitchen and I had NO idea what to put in it.  I didn’t want an empty space, so I filled the old fireplace with a desk I found at Goodwill that I painted.

Breakfast Nook:

I started collecting state plates a couple years ago…I wanted something to look for each time I went into a thrift shop.  So far I have about 25 of them! I write on the back of each one when I got it, and how I got it.  I can’t wait to get all 50 states…and then some! If you ever see one let me know!

I got this iron and glass table from my grandparents when I moved to Asheboro for school.  I absolutely love this table! It’s been used by my grandparents since the 70’s and I love the history behind it! Under the cushions are the layers and layers of fabric that my grandma has covered the chairs in! Such a silly thing, but I absolutely love it!

This little cabinet here takes up an entire wall, and it’s one of my favorite things about the house! Inside the cabinets are my favorite collection of old glass and mason jars! {And a few other quirky things I’ve collected along the way!}

Dining Room:

I finally can say that I LOVE my dining room!  I found this table at an antique store and first fell in love with the chairs…but then when I saw the bottom of the table…I couldn’t resist.  So I took it home that day, and recovered the chairs in a lime green burlap the next!

Mantle in the dining room.  I painted the canvas above the mantle…I bought the canvas 1/2 price at Michael’s and then painted the canvas one night after many {and I mean many} beers. 😉

 Living Room:

Mantle in the living room.  I absolutely love anything chalkboard, so I found this framed print at a Salvation Army for $10.  I took it home and painted over it with chalkboard paint.  It was a quick and easy little project and I love the way it turned out!

I bought all those film canisters from school for one cent for the entire lot.  They were going to toss them out…and I couldn’t resist.  I hung onto them for a while…but I knew I could use them in my decor someday!
The bowling pin and the insulator I picked up both at Cline’s Antique’s in Mt. Pleasant…You MUST visit there if you love antiques as much as me!

I don’t know why, but I absolutely love these signs.  Whenever I see them out {and for the right price, of course!} I always take one home and add to my wall!

I bought this couch for $90 off Craigslist! It’s not really what I’m wanting {I’m thinking more of the slip covered look} but, hey! I’ll get my dream couch someday right?!

This little corner is at the top of my stairs on the second floor.  I love it!

These canvases are hanging in my laundry room. 🙂 Ain’t it the truth though!

The back door. I love my flowers…but I secretly wish they were fake…I hate having to water them!

That is all for now! Hope you enjoyed looking through the Emma Loo House for now! Right now, I’m in the process of decorating and rearranging my office…I’ll post pictures when I am done! Can’t wait for the finished look!
