A phone call is what started it all… Chelsea called me to inquire about wedding day photography and we had a long conversation over the phone one day, and I just knew that a friendship was blossoming from that afternoon on! Her and Shane are truly two incredible and genuine people. It was such a pleasure working with them and getting to know them even if we were states away! (They were living in New York throughout the entire wedding planning process!) When I met them at their engagement session, I completely fell in love with this couple! They were just so much fun!
Chelsea+Shane met online actually (which is how lots and lots of my clients meet…& how Phillip and I met, too!) and they shared their very first date at a Charlotte Checker’s hockey game. They’ve been together ever since, left sweet Carolina behind and moved to New York together, are parents to a sweet English Mastiff pup named Hudson, and planned such a gorgeous wedding at Morning Glory Farms & Events in Monroe, North Carolina. Some of my favorite parts of their wedding day includes-
-The venue (Morning Glory Farms) had this simply amazing gatehouse as the “bridal suite”. Spending the afternoon watching the bridesmaids, Chelsea, and her mom getting ready was just too fun and the girls were just so sweet and down to earth! Chelsea had picked out and given each of her bridesmaids gold personalized necklaces that represented their relationship together. It was such a sweet touch and so great finding out the stories behind the necklaces & the girls!
-Shane played football at Cornell University, so most of his groomsmen were old teammates of his…(which by the way, is a recipe for a pretty epic reception! –See bride and groom in lifted chairs below!) Shane put the jersey numbers on the groomsmen’s socks and when we asked the groomsmen for a picture of the back of their socks…it was pretty hilarious.
-Chelsea and Shane have been renovating their home in NY, so the old windows that served as the seating charts were the old windows out of their first home.
-Chelsea’s entire family was apart of a little joke geared towards Shane. Apparently, Shane has three loves-Chelsea, their dog Hudson, and Chex Cereal. So when Chelsea’s dad was giving a toast, the entire family got up and hand delivered Shane boxes and boxes of Chex cereal. It was quite funny! (What on earth did he do with all that Chex after the wedding?!)
-Chelsea and Shane also share their wedding date with her grandparents who were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on July 10th. They had honored their grandparents by playing their song, and setting up a memory table on the cake table with their wedding invitation from 60 years ago, newspaper clippings, and even the sales receipt from the wedding ring (it was only $25!) It was such a lovely celebration. They sure do make an excellent example of a successful marriage for Chelsea and Shane to follow.
Chelsea and Shane-it was just such joy getting to know you two and being apart of your lovely wedding day! Wishing you all the best and all of the happiness in the world! Congratulations you two lovebirds! XO-Emma Loo
