Marissa and Nate began their married life surrounded by family and friends in middle of the city that they dearly love. (You can view their Uptown Charlotte engagement session here!) This wedding was one that I had been anticipating since I first recieved an inquiry email from Marissa. (Marissa, Nate, and I all went to school together, and Marissa’s mom was/is good friends with my parents from the gym!)
Everything about Marissa and Nate’s Uptown Charlotte wedding day was just fabulous! These two are avid beer drinkers and brewery lovers, so having a beer themed wedding day was a must. The centerpieces included growlers from local and recently visited breweries that they love. They also gave personalized pint glasses as the favor…my kind of couple! Plus, don’t even get me started on the game of trivia that was played during dinner! Pretty. Much. Amazing! Marissa and Nate enjoy going to Trivia with their friends and family, and believe me-I’ve been to a trivia night, and it’s pretty intense!
Some of my favorite moments throughout the day was making sure that Marissa and Nate’s ‘First Look’ was done by something so “Classic Charlotte”. With the help of my amazing second shooter Shana, we were able to pull off this adorable ‘First Look’ in front of the “wheel” in Center City at Trade & Tryon. Even though it was busy and crowded streets, it was like time stood still for a moment while Marissa went to the other side of the sculpture to see Nate…everyone was watching and cheering!
+Marissa and Nate celebrated her Mom and Dad’s anniversary by saying “I Do” on the exact same day-25 years later! What a fabulous honor! Mom and Dad shared in Marissa and Nate’s First Dance together! The newlyweds danced to “Like I’m Going to Lose You” by Meghan Trainor and John Legend.
+DANCING! Was this wedding full of dancing or what?! EVERYONE was on the floor…including Grandma! Nate pulled out his super sweet dance moves, and may or may not have pulled something while doing a spilt on the floor! Way to go, Nate!
+Two words: PILLOW. FIGHT. (see below.)
+One of my favorite moments at every wedding is the Father-Daughter Dance. If you’ve known me for long enough, you know why. Getting to see these girls dance with their Daddy…just brings tears to my eyes…even now! Marissa and her Dad danced to “Walking in Memphis” by Marc Cohen. She says it was “their song” while growing up and blubbery me behind the camera just loved it!
This was my first time ever shooting anything at The Mint Museum Uptown…and it was fabulous! Everyone over there was incredibly nice and I highly suggest using that venue for the staff, the space, and the incredible views!
