I am ecstatic to to finally be able to share this fun session with y’all! Getting to work with Simpson’s Bridal & Formal Wear (located in Downtown Monroe, NC) was such a blast! Simpson’s owner, Krista and her team of girls working at Simpson’s makes it SO easy for Brides-To-Be to find and fall in love with their dream wedding gown.
Back in late September Krista had contacted me to ask if I would like to “spruce up” her shop with some updated images showcasing my work. What was in the shop before were semi-outdated, traditional framed canvas images of a bridal portrait that…honestly…was popular about 8-10+ years ago. They were gorgeous images…but not up-to-date for a Bride walking into Simpson’s in search of their wedding day gown.
I came to Krista with an idea that would really bring sudden change to the look of the shop. Instead of going the “traditional” route (canvas gallery wraps, framed 2-3 images..etc..), I asked Krista if she would mind if I made up a more modern gallery wall that would be able to display lots of different examples of my work, quotes, pictures and fun graphics but it would be more fitting to the modern bride today. I don’t know about y’all, but when we hang images in frames around our house, we hang them amongst our gallery walls that show not only lots of different images that we love but also give our walls a little piece of flair and personality too.
Krista was over the moon excited when I came to her with my idea and with that-she let me go! She said “It was my wall, I could do whatever I wanted.” How cool was that?! (Krista…you are phenomenal to work with…seriously!) SO…it took a couple of weeks (Ok…more like a couple of months!) to search and get everything prepared, bought, framed, and ready to hang but we FINALLY got it done…and boy…does it look AWESOME! We went to hang the gallery wall last week and I must say-I have quite an amazing team of support & help! (Thanks to my Mom for her incredible help and design inspiration! Joe for being “moral support” and bringing his tools, and to Phillip for helping me make the finishing touches to the wall!)
Once the wall was up, the girls at Simpson’s were in awe and seriously made my day when they wouldn’t stop telling me how amazing the wall looked. They were so excited about the wall that they even went out to Target that night and bought a new rug for the Simpson’s foyer that matched the wall. How cool!?!
I simply LOVED getting to work with Simpson’s and create something that will showcase my work but also bring an updated and fresh look to the entry way at Simpson’s. If you have the chance to stop into Simpson’s..you must! Go see the “Emma Loo Wall” and say “hey” to Krista and her girls for me!
XO! -Emma Loo
{I had asked Krista months ago to do a session with the entire Simpson’s team one day to add a personal touch to the look of the wall. Since it’s a family locally owned and operated shop, I wanted to make sure that that aspect of the shop was incorporated in to the gallery. About a week before Christmas, we got all the Simpson’s team together to have a portrait session! It was SO much fun to get to photograph the gals and they had such a good time in front of my lens! Even though it was FREEZING the girls were a BLAST to work with!}
