Kitt+Jake | Wedding Day

4/06/16

POSTED IN: Wedding Day, Weddings

When I first met Kitt+Jake, I was getting ready to shoot a mutual friend of ours birthday party.  We had started talking at the beginning of the party, and I was so excited for them and their engagement.  I was hoping they hadn’t already booked a wedding photographer, but when I found out they were getting married only a few weeks later in March, I thought they had to have had a photographer by then.

Fast forward a couple days later. Our mutual friend, Natalie, had contacted me and told me about friends of hers who needed a wedding photographer.  Turns out that it was Kitt and Jake!! We had met once more, this time with wedding planning to do, and I left our meeting together feeling like I had just had coffee with two of my very good friends.  I simply couldn’t believe that they had chosen me to capture their very first day as husband and wife! Kitt+Jake had a very short engagement and just like Phillip and I, they met, dated, got engaged and even got married in less than a year.  (When you know, you just know!)

Kitt+Jake had a very small and intimate wedding ceremony at their home church and a lunch reception inside Kitt’s mother’s home.  I couldn’t have imagined the day to be any different for these two.  They kept their mindset about their wedding day to be centered around their marriage and their covenant with God, and to me, I couldn’t have asked for a better couple! Even a couple weeks prior to their wedding day, Kitt was emailing me worship songs that were going to be played during their ceremony and I STILL have those songs on repeat!

As always, here are some of my very favorite memories from their sweet wedding day:

Kitt got ready for the wedding in a kindergarten Sunday school classroom.  It was bright, there was hardly any natural light, and in the background of almost every picture were bold colorful things and alphabet letters, but it couldn’t have been more perfect.  Natalie helped dress Kitt and when they were done, Natalie read Proverbs 31 to Kitt and they prayed together.  It was a moment that was so truly wonderful to witness! I’m SO glad I was able to be there with those two amazing women!

+ Kitt was escorted down the aisle by her youngest son, while her oldest son was the Best Man.  Watching the boys stand by their mom during the beginning of the ceremony was so special! They certainly love their Mama!

+During the ceremony communion and prayer, Jake wrapped his arm around Kitt and held her close.  It was such a sweet, sweet moment!

+Photographing Kitt and Jake within the blooming cherry blossoms was just too much fun! I so enjoyed our small amount of time together getting to photograph such sweet newlywed love in front of my camera! Jake and Kitt are just so passionate together and SO CUTE! I seriously don’t think those two know how to NOT be cute and snuggly! 😉

+The luncheon reception was hosted at Kitt’s Mother’s home.  Long banquet style tables were set up, family heirloom China place settings were used, and fresh fruit donned ice water glasses.  Being able to spend a few hours with these two families merging as one was just so special.  I loved being able to get to know everyone who were so important to and loved by Kitt and Jake.  I wish more weddings were this intimate and small…it makes my heart so happy being able to get to know everyone and feeling like family when it’s all over with.

+The Lavender Toss! What a fun way to bid the Bride & Groom farewell! Not only did it look pretty, but it smelled heavenly! I’m sure Kitt is STILL picking out lavender seeds! (They got EVERYWHERE!)

Of course, their day wouldn’t be complete without the work from some AMAZING vendors! Special thanks to everyone who helped make Kitt+Jake’s day s0 special!
