A Springtime Alexander Homestead Wedding in Charlotte, North Carolina
She is always so fun to be around, has such a funny sense of humor, she speaks sarcasm fluently and went through all the tough and stressful times of school with grace…pun intended. Grace and I lived together for a short year and a half while we were in photography school, so I got to experience her humorous spirit every day and that’s why so many just enjoyed being around her. Since I’ve known Grace, I’ve always known of Mike. He’s been there with her through all of photography school. He’d calm her down when we had loads of projects and the stress of the approaching deadlines were upon us. We’d be in the apartment living room watching Pride & Prejudice (one of our favorites!) and Mike would call, and they’d talk for hours. From living with her, I could tell that even though their wedding days would be years away, I knew that one day they would get married. Without a doubt, Grace and Mike were just meant for one another.
So when their highly anticipated wedding day finally came around, I was so honored and thrilled to be there to celebrate with them and capture their very first day as Husband and Wife! I always get teary eyed at weddings, but this one was extra special just because I love Grace and her sweet little family so much! (Don’t even get me started on ‘Mama Kim’! She is a doll! I loved it when I was able to enjoy a few moments with Grace and her mom at her Bridal Portraits before the big day! We had SO much fun!) I can remember Grace and I in one of our long conversations while we were roommates talking about our weddings and day dreaming about what it would look like, what would be the color palate, and day dreaming on who would photograph it. I was just so honored when Grace asked me to photograph their wedding! Over the moon excited, but even more honored than anything else!
Some of my most cherished moments from Grace and Mike’s most perfect day were:
+Grace getting into her dress. There’s just something about a Bride standing there in front of the mirror while her Mom buttons up the back. Something so exciting and so sweet. That sweet moment between them is something I’ll never forget.
+Grace and Mike’s ceremony was breathtakingly beautiful, but SO chilly and windy! (Who would’ve thought! Temps earlier that week were in the 80’s!) Grace’s dad officiated the ceremony and that made it even more special! Oh! And did I mention, their wedding ceremony STARTED at 11:30AM so it was a beautiful morning wedding and couldn’t be more perfect! If you want a picturesque wedding…I suggest a morning ceremony! It couldn’t have been more beautiful and serene!
+Mike’s mom’s sister’s all grabbed me for a quick shot prior to the ceremony. The four sisters live in different parts of the world (in places like California and Australia!!) so it was quite fun to get these girls together for a quick shot of them all while they were in one place! How much fun is that! That’s why I love weddings so much because it brings families together for so much joy and celebration!
+Hearing Grace’s Dad give a toast about being able to be there for her wedding after a cancer scare made me boo hoo like a baby! I don’t think there was a dry eye in the entire room! What a sweet toast he gave and such a sweet moment for the family!
+Grace and Mike exited their reception with a Sprinkle Toss. You read that right…SPRINKLES! It was quite a colorful and sweet way to end the day and say goodbye to the Bride and Groom!
Grace+Mike…Thank y’all so much for giving me quite the honor of getting to tell your love story!
