WELCOME!

Married Monday | Our Anniversary Trip

6/13/16

When we were in the midsts of planning for our wedding day and our marriage, we got lots of advice from our families and friends who helped us plan for our big day.  But some of the best advice we got was to make sure that we getaway for every anniversary…even if its close to the house, take a little getaway for each anniversary!

For our first anniversary, we decided to keep it close to home (& keep our wallets happy!) so we went to the beach for our anniversary trip and stayed at our family’s beach house.  We had SUCH a great time and goodness gracious, it was SO awesome to get away after a couple LONG months of hard work.  But not only was it was amazing to get away with each other on a little vacation, but we were able to rekindle our newlywed love for one another. We kept saying to each other each day “Remember this time last year…”

We had such a great time on our anniversary trip and can’t wait until next year when we can do it all again! …Except next year, we’ll be taking our pup somewhere too! (Eeek! Seeing all those pups on the beach has made me SO so excited to finally get out puppy!!)

On our first day, Thursday, we spent all day on the beach and spent the night out on the Garden City Pier (or Pieradise as we like to call it!) Friday, we drove down to Charleston (about an hour and twenty away from the beach house!) and spent all day being crazy tourists in Chucktown! (We even ate lunch at one of my favorite places-Justine’s Kitchen and Seewee for dinner! YUM!) Saturday we got SO BURNED while spending the day out on the beach.  We totally applied and reapplied sunscreen, but we ended up falling asleep on the beach right after lunch.  We came home on Sunday, and I’m not going to lie…we were a bit depressed coming home because we were still wishing we were back at the beach! Now we’re back to reality and back to work!

So take our advice and get away for every anniversary! It was SO much fun and well worth it! It was such fun to celebrate our very first year of marriage and we can’t wait to go back next year! We will be probably going back to the beach lots for our anniversary trips-but we’re going to be planning a trip back to the resort where we took our Honeymoon to in the next 4-5 years.  AnniversaryTrip_5The Pier at Garden City is absolutely one of our favorite go-to spots to visit while down at the beach! We love it, especially its live music! We also LOVE going to the Murrell’s Inlet Marshwalk to enjoy the scenery and the live music! We ate at Bubba’s Love Shack this time around, but we’ve eaten at Dead Dog Saloon and Creek Ratz at other times! We’ve never been disappointed anywhere!AnniversaryTrip_4 AnniversaryTrip_8For our anniversary, Phillip bought me a film 35mm Canon AE-1 which I loved using during our mini-vacay! I simply can’t wait to get the film rolls back from our vacation! We shot 3 rolls of film! personal_summer_2016-38 personal_summer_2016-32 personal_summer_2016-79Getting to take a day-trip to Charleston was SO much FUN! We can’t wait to go back because there is SO MUCH to do around Chucktown! This trip we did a lot of walking in the heat (oh boy! It was HOT!) & we even took a carriage ride around Charleston to learn about its history! (It was Phillip’s first time taking one! He loved it!)
AnniversaryTrip_9personal_summer_2016-61 personal_summer_2016-122 AnniversaryTrip_6Justine’s Kitchen is a MUST-VISIT! Get there early, because there’s ALWAYS a line going out the door! And make sure to save room for dessert! The Coca-Cola cake is Delish! AnniversaryTrip_1AnniversaryTrip_2 AnniversaryTrip_10 AnniversaryTrip_3There’s something about that Spanish Moss swaying in the  live oaks down in the low country. I just LOVE it. It’s definitely heaven for me! AnniversaryTrip_11
