Happy Wednesday loves! I don’t have too much time today to write a full post (hence, why I should be pre-writing all my posts…ahh! Good ole procrastination!) but I’ve decided to share my insight on a BIG part of the wedding day that often gets overlooked by some Brides! Not that you’re meaning to overlook this important aspect of the day…it’s just…you hadn’t thought about it as much! You’ve got enough to worry about and too much wedding planning going on in your own little head of yours, that it’s quite possible to overlook it!

I’m talking about YOUR GROOM and his DETAILS on Wedding Day! Sure, there are some Brides who don’t care too much about their Bridal Details, and their Groom is probably equally as indifferent when it comes to their own details of getting ready for the wedding day. However, capturing those Bridal AND Groom Details are an important part of telling your “Wedding Story” through the images.

So! If the wedding day timeline allows for it or if the second shooter is there, capturing the Groom Details are a fun way to document the Groom getting ready on his wedding day! Because..after all it IS HIS wedding day too, right?! 😉

Here are just a few Groom Details to capture on Wedding Day:

Getting Dressed Putting on his jacket and his shoes means that he’s getting ready to meet you at the altar or finally see you for your First Look.  Believe me, as a previous Bride…”it got real” to me the moment I put on my dress.  The same goes for him when he swings his jacket around his shoulders.  Fixing bowties, tying up shoe laces, putting on his cufflinks (bonus points if they were a gift from you! Custom ones are always cute!) All these little details means that he’s getting ready for the best day ever with you! 

Shoes and Socks! Who would’ve thought that guys would be SO obsessed with their shoes and CRAZY SOCKS! I always make sure to grab a quick shot of the Groom’s and Groomsmen’s shoes and fun picture of their socks on Wedding Day! Sometimes guys go ALL OUT with those crazy sock designs! (Or they wear their favorite team…especially if their wedding day falls on the same day as the big game! 😉 ) 

Wedding Gifts or Cards Getting a special gift or card from you is might special for your Groom on your wedding day.  He might not be the sentimental type all the time, but trust me…he’ll cherish that card with your sweet love letter on it forever! Making sure that I can get this moment is very important…plus, you’ll never know when a tear or two may be shed! Normally, you guys won’t see each other during this sweet time…so it’ll be a way for him to remember it and a way for you to actually see it take place! 

Text Messages Special text messages back and forth between you two before the wedding day is so special and it makes it even more special when you send each other texts the morning of your wedding day because you never know how we can capture it! You text and talk everyday right, so make these few texts special and get a picture of one! You’ll be able to see just how excited you two were for your BIG DAY! 

Vows/Speeches If you two are writing your own vows, he may be going over and “practicing” his vows while getting ready! These make for some AMAZING shots and such sweet shots at that! 

Groom’s Portrait Just as important as a Bridal Portrait, a Groom’s Portrait is simply just photographing the Groom by himself.  We get lots of these either in the Bridal Party Portrait time or the Romantic Portrait time.  We always make sure to get a “serious” one, a casual shot with maybe the jacket off and around the Groom’s shoulder, and a laughing/fun one! You’re going to have plenty of Bridal Portraits throughout the Wedding Day that will be absolutely gorgeous because you’re in them! But what about a nice portrait of YOUR MAN for you to frame and keep on your desk or nightstand! Getting a Groom’s Portrait is a MUST on my Wedding Day Shot list!
