Merry Christmas lovelies!
Whew…it’s been a whirlwind of a Christmas Season hasn’t it? Sure, there’s a ton of hustle and bustle around this time of year…we’re wrapping gifts, baking cookies, getting the Christmas tree all decorated…it’s a crazy-busy time of the year, but it’s most certainly my most treasured and most favorite.
This year, I have a lot to be excited about! It’s my very first Christmas in my own house! Let’s just say, I went a little nuts y’all. {no, like really. I did. I think I was at Hobby Lobby so much-the cashier knew my name…yeah, it was bad.}
Yes, it’s true…I did go a little overboard with the Christmas decor, but that’s ok, right?! It’s “the most wonderful time of the year” and things are supposed to be a little overly wonderful!
So here’s a little sneak peek into the house that has been overloaded decorated with Christmas decor! Here’s what I was going for y’all:
- I knew that I wanted a little less traditional “Southern Christmas”. I still wanted the traditional Christmas-y things (stockings, the tree of course, the advent calendar, etc…) but I also wanted to add in cute things for my own Christmas decor.
- I wanted to make sure that I tied in my love for both burlap and chevron SOMEWHERE in the Christmas decor! I had found some burlap chevron ribbon back in July and snatched it up as soon as I came across it! I knew it would be perfect wrapped in my tree!
- I’m a sucker for any kind of cute quote hanging on the wall, so when I found an adorable little quote from The Grinch movie on Pinterest, I knew I had to use it somewhere in my house! I decided to take down my hand painted blue/green/yellow/turquoise painting that I had done for my dining room {those colors certainly don’t go with my Christmas decor, of course!} and I painted a canvas with the Grinch quote on it to hang in its place. {Be sure not to miss the chalkboard over the fireplace too! That took me two hours to complete and lots and lots of chalk!}
Here’s a little tid-bit of advice while out collecting decorations for this Christmas season:
- Don’t be afraid to turn your entire house into the North Pole! It’s the most magical time of the year, why wouldn’t you?! Do your mega redecorating in the big rooms (living room, dining room, foyer, etc…) but then have little touches of Christmas everywhere throughout your house! (Christmas candle, soap, and towels in the guest bathroom…”Let it Snow” wooden sign in the kitchen {{I found some cute Christmas-like signs that I used in my guest bathroom and my kitchen. They were only $1 from the dollar section in Target!!}
- It’s never too early to think about Christmas! (Just please, don’t play Christmas music until AFTER Thanksgiving folks!) If you’re out in the middle of summer and you see something that you could use for Christmas time…go ahead and buy it! {Plus, getting all of your things WAY BEFORE the season is a great way to RELAX during the season!} I found my tree stand at Goodwill for $2.99 in March!! It’s a really good one too…I saw the same one at Wal-Mart for $40!!!!
{oh those Christmas cards…Ok, so I was really determined to get Christmas cards out to Family/Friends/Clients early in the season…BUT….well, yeah…that was an epic fail. Here it is only five days before Christmas Eve and I just now put the stamps on.}
Scored this little baby from Target this season…for FREE! Be on the lookout for in-store coupons & text codes (that’s how I got this!) Plus, download Cartwheel for your iPhone…it’s basically like having a BFF to shop with while you’re at Target. Yes, it’s wonderful.
I am in love with ALL Primitives by Kathy wooden signs and this little door hanger just takes the cake!
Now…for one of my favorite rooms in the house…my office!
I just recently finished putting together my office and I couldn’t be more happier with the way it has turned out! The room that my office is in is like a sunroom almost, it’s loaded wall-to-wall with floor to ceiling windows. {Ok, yes…it’s beautiful but a bitch to edit in! I’ll need to complete the room with some curtains, that’s for sure!}
I’m a lover of clean and simple. I knew I wanted a stark white desk to make the colors of my photos and inspiration just POP. These white desks from IKEA work great with the space.
I use a candy jar to hold receipts in while I’m waiting to organize them. It’s a great storage saver and plus, it’s fun to look at!
Cheap white frames, scrapbooking paper, and client Thank-You cards are whats hung up on one wall in my office.
