Michele and John were married on June 20th at the beautiful Separk Mansion in downtown Gastonia, North Carolina.  Since I’ve known Michele since high school (I was ecstatic when she asked me to photograph her wedding!!) seeing her get married to her best friend was just amazing! I was so happy to be apart of her and John’s such beautiful day!

Some of my favorite moments from their wedding day were:

-Michele & John requested that they serve the wedding party dinner first because the two of them get very “hangry” when they don’t eat! Their caterer, La-Tea-Da’s of Charlotte, pulled bridal dinner off for everyone fabulously! I had never seen anything like that at a wedding before, and I thought it was just a great idea to make sure that the Bride & Groom do in fact get something to eat!

-John had pulled me aside while Michele was getting ready and asked if we could set something up so that she could give her the bridal bouquet that he had tied a picture of Michele’s dad around the stems.  He didn’t want to actually see Michele, but he wanted to give the flowers to her and tell her that now her dad gets to walk with her down the aisle. It was such a beautiful moment!

-John and Michele’s ceremony was very short and sweet and wonderfully officiated by John’s brother! How cool was that?!

-Michele had wanted to surprise John with a traditional grooms cake, so right after they cut their own cake (wonderfully made by Cakespirations!…YUM!) Michele’s Mom and new Mother-in-Law brought out a cake shaped like a firefighters hat and a picture of John’s grandpa. The cake was such a nice memorial to John’s grandpa and completely blew John & his grandma away!

-The second Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel” song came on, EVERYONE flocked to the dance floor. John sang his heart out and was the star of the show!

We had such a great time at this wedding and really enjoyed getting to know all of Michele and John’s families and friends while we were there! Goodness, I just love weddings!
