There’s something about photographing a newborn baby in its new home that I just love. It’s usually the simplicity and the overflowing love for the new baby that I just adore. When I was welcomed into Doug+Ashley’s home, it was just that.
Ashley and Doug have just recently welcomed their second baby girl into the world, and I had the pleasure and the honor AGAIN to capture their sweet baby! Baby Carter (don’t you just LOVE the name?!) is just precious and literally slept through the ENTIRE session! It was a good thing too, because Big Sister Charley had just woken up from her nap and was pretty excited to be in front of my camera! (Charley isn’t a stranger to the Emma Loo Blog either, you can see her sessions here and here!)
These types of sessions make me so grateful that I am a photographer. It’s these kinds of sessions that make my passion for photography feel on fire once again. Not only am I capturing such adorable moments between two sisters, but I’m also looking so forward for them to cherish these images many many years from now. I sure wish my sister and I would’ve had sweet pictures like this to enjoy now! Sure, we talk nowadays about how “EVERYTHING gets documented and there’s SO MANY pictures of EVERYTHING out there” but really and truly, I love the fact that we’re becoming a documenting society! Why not document and capture such sweet times because you’ll be able to enjoy those moments and cherish those memories long after the moment has passed.
It was such joy to be with the Colbert family as we captured some adorable images of sweet baby Carter and Big Sister Charley! I absolutely loved it! Ashley+Doug, I hope y’all love and cherish these images of your girls for many wonderful years ahead! XO! -Emma Loo
