Married Monday | Our Disney World Trip Recap

3/01/16

MarriedMonday_DisneyRecapOk, ok, ok! So I’m a tad bit late on this “Married Monday” post. However, in my defense…it IS still Monday….and it IS only 8:15pm….so I think I’m doing alright.  As for today though, it’s been a tough one, I’m not going to lie.  First off, it’s a Monday (Strike 1)….then I had a mid-morning dentist appointment (Strike 2)…turns out, I have a cracked molar, which means I’ll have to have a ROOT CANAL (Strike 3) AND a crown as well!  (OUT!) So needless to say, today hasn’t been much fun & my teeth just ache at the thought of all those surgeries! Oh yeah, I almost forgot! I’ll ALSO have to have my wisdom teeth pulled out too! Yay! So this day hasn’t been fun, but I’m always looking on the brighter sides of things (no matter how awful they might look) and even though the beginning of my day wasn’t too great, I wrapped up the day with a run around the neighborhood AND then once Phillip got home we walked around the neighborhood…win & win!

So my friends, that is why it is now…well, 8:18pm…and I’m just now getting to today’s Married Monday post.  But I’m excited to share this post with y’all because I’m going to do a quick recap on our trip down to Disney World last weekend! We had such a great time traveling down to Florida for an engagement session/mini-vacation.  My mom & her husband came with us, and we stayed with our longtime family-friends who live down in Orlando.

We left Thursday at lunchtime and we made it to Lancaster, SC when I realized that I had forgotten our Disney Park tickets that my wonderful clients had gifted me with! (Which by the way…how awesome was that?! Kayla+Mike are such sweethearts!)  SO…we had to turn around and lose about an hour of driving time, but it was just a little glitch that got us laughing from the get-go! We finally made it down to Orlando around 10:30pm, met up with our friends, and then hit the hay!

Friday morning we woke up early, got dressed, and headed straight to Disney! We were amazed at how many people were there (1) SO early and (2) on a Friday! (Turns out, it was Princess Marathon Weekend there AND the Daytona 500 weekend!)  We didn’t have to wait for any ride longer than 45 minutes, but still…we were expecting it to be deserted! Note to self for next time: go sometime between Thanksgiving & Christmas or right after the Disney Marathon weekend in January!) This was Phillip’s first time to any of the Disney parks…even his first time to Florida too! So we probably should’ve gone to a cooler park, like Universal or Hollywood Studios because he wasn’t super excited to see Disney Princesses & Tinkerbell flying from the castle in the night sky, but he liked it! Either way, I was the one who was in heaven!! I absolutely LOVE Disney! I am always SO impressed with how Disney parks are! They’re SO clean, every “Cast Member” is super friendly, and the rides are just awesome….I mean, the detail they put into the ride itself is awesome, and even the waiting areas have SO many details to look at while you wait.  It’s all pretty impressive.

Here’s us right after we arrived inside the park. Notice how bright & cheery we look! IMG_4784Phillip bought me Minnie ears the moment we walked thru the gates! I wore them all day! (Talk about a MAJOR headache wearing those things! Guess who is going to be Minnie Mouse this year for Halloween?!)

While we were waiting in line for It’s A Small World, we had to snag a selfie. I’m STILL singing that song in my head! IMG_4810

I met one of my favorite characters from one of my favorite classic Disney movies! Marie from The Aristocats! “Because I’m a Lady, that’s why.” Dream come true for this cat lover!IMG_4768

Here’s us right before sunset & towards the end of our day! We were SO tired! IMG_4835

We spent our Saturday morning eating our breakfast “al fresco” in our friends backyard. Seriously folks, their backyard is heavenly! It’s like a rainforest as soon as you step outside! (No wonder why they love it there!)  Then we went antiquing (one of our favorite things to do!) , we ate lunch at a BBQ place and then waited to begin our engagement session with Kayla+Mike.  We went to the camp where Kayla+Mike had met while they were both camp counselors there and they had hit it off and fell in love. I couldn’t think of a better place to take their engagements, so when they suggested the camp it was a MUST for sure!  We so enjoyed our time spent with them on their engagement session, but after the sun had set, we went back to our friends house to enjoy margaritas & fajitas, a good fire in the fire pit out in the rainforest backyard, and even better company.  (Honestly, we’ve been on a margarita kick ever since! We love Margs! 😉 )

On Sunday, we left bright and early! When we hit Daytona, we certainly hit the Daytona race traffic.  Even still, we made great time coming home.  When we got home, Phillip and I just fell on our bed.  Even though we were gone for only a couple of days-we fit a lot in those few days! Plus, we were even happier to be home! Disney World may be the most magical place on Earth, but I think being in our home together is pretty awesome as well!

Until next time! XO! -Emma Loo

(P.S….I promise next week I won’t post SO late! Next week “Married Monday” post is about cheap date night ideas & what we’ve done on date nights as a frugal, newlywed couple! Stay tuned! XO!)
