We had been praying extra hard for no rain…and as the wedding week approached us, it wasn’t looking very promising. It looked like no matter how hard we prayed, God had other plans for the weather on October 8th. He didn’t just plan for a little rain, He brought in a whole HURRICANE for Laura and Daniel’s big day! It was inevitable. The day was going to be completely cloudy, rainy, windy, and rain plans would have to be made no matter what. The forecast called for a chance of rain at 100 percent…but you would’ve never known it by looking at Daniel and Laura! Those two made the absolute BEST of it and they wouldn’t let a little {ok…maybe a lot!} of rain steal their joy and ruin their wedding day!
I started the day being greeted by Laura’s Mom and walking into the kitchen of Laura’s childhood home. YES! Laura and Daniel got married in her parent’s backyard! It was quite a fete to say the least! Laura’s Mom greeted me with a big hug and looked at the skies and said “Every girls dream, right?!” talking about the weather, of course! Walking into the kitchen was a whirlwind of floral stems, hairspray, laughter, and Laura’s bridesmaids were so welcoming & greeted me with hugs and offered help whenever I needed it. It was a breath of fresh air! Their spirits were so uplifting, calm, and warm. When I hugged Laura, she told me she had been super stressed about the weather the day before, but now on wedding day she wasn’t stressed because it was out of her control! She told me she was just going to make the best of it because at the end of the day! Rain or shine…she’s getting married! I’ll never forget it! What a testament to how amazing love and marriage is! Just like the weather, marriage isn’t always going to be absolutely perfect! We’ve got to take the good with the bad, make the best of it, and enjoy it no matter what! And that’s just what Laura did! Her and Daniel made the best out of their rainy wedding day & boy! It was something special!!
Something else that was special was Daniel’s reaction to seeing Laura walking towards him during the ceremony. He couldn’t take his eyes off her! She was absolutely stunning walking with her Dad down the aisle. Daniel got a little teary eyed at the sight of her, and Daniel’s Dad/Best Man put is arm around him during that moment to consul him. It was such a special moment to witness and I’m so honored to have been there to capture their beautiful wedding day! The rain eventually cleared out later in the evening and Laura and Daniel walked through a line of lit sparklers and drove away from their wedding reception in newlywed bliss! I even overheard Laura’s mom saying that Laura got her sparkler exit that she wanted…and she did! Laura was able to run through a beautiful line of sparklers with Daniel, the man of her dreams, on her arm! Now THAT was every girl’s dream!!
Enjoy some of my favorites from Laura+Daniel’s big day! Be on the look out for some fun shots of the wedding party with umbrellas! We were in the POURING rain! With a bag over my camera and a whole lot of clear bubble umbrellas, I told the wedding party to just simply pretend it’s not raining! With rain soaked groomsmen jackets, wet hair, and a drenched wedding dress train…we had a BLAST in the pouring rain for about 10 minutes to get these fun shots! They are some of my favorite shots ever!
