Rather you’re wearing a $800 pair of Louboutin’s or a pair from Payless…chances are by the end of your wedding day…your feet are going to HURT! Not only will they ache from being stuffed in a pair of high heels all day long, but also because you’ll be on your feet for most of the wedding day! Lots of my Emma Loo Brides tend to ask this same question over and over again…”What kind of shoes should I wear?”
For today’s Wedding Wednesday post, my beautiful Brides-to-Be…I’m here to tell you one very important piece of information regarding your wedding shoes…IT. DOESN’T. MATTER. WHAT. YOU. WEAR!!!
Honestly, Brides! No one will really SEE your shoes (unless of course, you’re wearing a tea-length dress!) so the shoes won’t make a difference! In fact, lots of my recent Brides have made the switch to wearing flats or slip on sandals throughout their Big Day! Why?! Because of the COMFORT! Trust me, a Bride who isn’t comfortable standing won’t LOOK comfortable for pictures! And the LAST thing on your mind during the very important Romantic Portrait time shouldn’t be how much your FEET HURT! Brides who have lots of foot pain caused by wearing an uncomfortable pair of shoes normally wants to cut the portrait time short so they can change out of the shoes that are causing them so much pain…and it just breaks my heart! When we could’ve spent lots of time on portraits…mainly the Romantic Portraits (aka-some of the most important photos from the day!) we’re now cutting portrait time in half so the Bride can get relief! While I can shoot a lot of portraits within 10 minutes…cutting that time to only 5 minutes isn’t the best scenario for a wedding day.
Sure, there are SOME Brides who wear heels and fight through the foot pain for the ceremony and portraits and then change into flats during the reception, but I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to do that at all! As long as you’ve picked a simple and neutral color sandal or flat, then wear ’em all day long! Don’t worry about changing out of them after the ceremony or being nervous about walking in your heels down the aisle…just wear comfortable shoes!
As for that adorable pair of high heels you’re just dying to have a picture of…have a cute pair of shoes for picture’s sake (& for a great addition to your Wedding Album!) Borrow a cute pair of shoes from a friend or buy a nice pair you’d plan on wearing again…just not feeling like wearing them ALL DAY. There’s also awesome places online that sell really nice shoes for less than $30 or websites that’ll RENT you nice designer shoes, if you wanted that cute pair of glittery Kate Spades for a picture, but don’t want to pay full price! OR heck! Even BUY those pair of shoes you’ve wanted and then sell them on eBay after the wedding! Make sure the pair of shoes you’d like a picture of matches the overall theme of your wedding day…so matching the shoes to your wedding colors is a must!
Now, I’m not going to judge if you decide to wear 5 inch heels ALL DAY on your Wedding Day…in fact, more power to ‘ya woman! All I’m saying is that you don’t HAVE to if you don’t want to! The most important thing to think about when deciding which shoes to wear is to hem your dress to the length of the shoes that you’ll wear the most throughout the day. For me, I bought a slip on pair of Tory Burch Sandals that I wore all day throughout the wedding, so I had my dress hemmed to that length. I stayed comfortable throughout the entire wedding day and I simply LOVED wearing my new sandals while on our Honeymoon!
Happy Wedding Wednesday loves! XO!
