We’re finally in the process of making our shutters!! This is news y’all. Like major news! That means that in just a few short weeks, those shutters will be hanging up on our freshly painted house! It’s pretty exciting, if I do say so myself! Currently, we’re on our professional painter’s schedule for painting the week of September 26th…which really seems like it’s SO LONG away, but it’ll be here before we know it…and we have LOTS  of work to do beforehand, that’s for sure!

We’ve decided to make our own shutters, so we’re saving lots of money but it’s taking a very long time, especially for our busy schedules! We’re constructing our own board and batten style shutters for our house windows…9 windows, so 18 shutters in all.  We looked all around online and found some pretty easy DIY-tutorials to assemble our own (Thank you Pinterest!)  Phillip has been ultra-awesome with his construction skills and he’s putting them together like nobody’s business! He’s been able to put together 4 in a little under an hour!

Next on our list to-do is priming and painting the shutters.  We’ve chosen Sherwin Willams Keystone Gray as our shutter color, and I think they’ll match nicely with our Canvas Tan brick color.  We also have to find 9 pairs of shutter dogs to adorn each shutter and boy, that’s not going to be cheap..but goodness, they’ll make the world of difference & they’ll look SO cute! Plus, we’ve been lucky to have in-laws who just so happened to “need” a miter saw and they bought one and said that we could borrow it for our project! Love it! 😉

Can’t hardly wait to see the shutters all primed & painted (which will take some work, that’s for sure! Painting is no joke!) Stay tuned for more Married Monday posts & posts all about The House soon! XO! Happy Monday!
